Emily Price: A Journey Through Yoga and Connection

Emily Price, a yoga facilitator, surfer and space holder based in South Devon, is on a mission to encourage deeper connection to oneself, those around us and the rhythms of nature through movement, breath, meditation and time spent outdoors. Her journey with yoga began in her early teens, attending classes with her mum. This early exposure planted the seeds for a lifelong passion for yoga and holistic wellbeing.

"I wanted to train as a yoga teacher when I turned 18, but I decided to go to university first and eventually after graduating and working several years abroad in various seasonal roles, I completed my first Authentic Flow 200hr YTT in 2020.”

This marked the beginning of a dedicated path that has seen Emily accumulate over 500 hours of training in somatics, embodied yoga, meditation, yin, and myofascial release.

Emily's approach to yoga is unique, focusing on helping people explore yoga and movement tailored to their body’s needs. She offers online meditations, group classes, immersive workshops, and is soon expanding into retreats. Her sessions steer away from rigid alignment-based practices, instead emphasising the importance of listening to the body's innate wisdom and natural alignment of you.

"My approach is for anyone with a curious mind who wants to explore yoga and movement with greater emphasis on listening to what is right for their body without the dogma of more rigid alignment-based movement classes.”

She believes in the power of community and connection, which is reflected in how she engages with her clients.

Three years ago, Emily started organising longer workshops. She wanted to offer more than just an hourly class, aiming to create memorable experiences where people could meaningfully connect with themselves, nature, and the community. This desire stemmed from her own transformative experiences with somatic yoga and her belief in its power to catalyse deep, personal growth.

Looking forward, Emily envisions sharing these tools with a broad range of people and building a supportive community invested in the health and wellbeing of people and the planet.

"My mission is to help you feel anchored and well-resourced in your body and mind, empowering you to confidently handle life’s challenges and make a positive impact in the world.”

Authenticity, nature, agency, connection, and compassion are core values that guide Emily’s work. She is down to earth and authentic with her clients, encouraging them to recognise their interconnectedness with the world around them and that they have agency in their bodies. Emily believes that the body and nature are the greatest teachers, and her practices emphasise listening with patience and curiosity. She prioritises connection and emphasises the importance of compassion in finding steadiness and ease in life.

Exciting developments are on the horizon for Emily's business. She is organising a series of women's surf and wellbeing activities, including a weekly women’s waves and wellbeing club, mini day surf and yoga retreats, longer three-day retreats, and overseas trips to Sri Lanka. These events aim to create nurturing spaces for women to build strength and resilience, immerse themselves in nature and be a part of a supportive community.

"The yoga that I share is very unique. Very few classes invite you to really feel what is right for you, and that is where I place the utmost importance.”

She believes in the importance of listening to the body’s inner signals and making decisions rooted in personal truth. Emily is always open to collaborating with others who care about nurturing creativity, community, and nature.
